Chinese cuisine is very diverse, and during our more than one month there, we tried lots of its flavours. Since we have been travelling on a budget, most of our experiences are from cheap eateries. However, we knew about three words in Mandarin (nothing changed since then) and could not read at all, ordering food was sometimes a bit challenging because variety is broad and not everything matches with our European appetite. Especially entrails are not often on a plate. The main ingredients are of course rice, noodles and a lot of vegetables, but every province or sometimes smaller area has own speciality or kind of spices. Here is what we ate:
